Maintenance Technician - Lead

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician Lead to join our team at our facility in Machesney Park, IL. This hands-on role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining manufacturing equipment while coordinating daily maintenance priorities and helping train and guide maintenance staff. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and technical troubleshooting experience, leadership ability, and experience maintaining manufacturing equipment. Experience with ACME Gridley screw machines is preferred.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Troubleshoot, repair, adjust, and maintain manufacturing equipment, with ACME Gridley screw machine experience preferred.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues within appropriate training and authorization and coordinate specialized repairs when needed.
Coordinate daily maintenance priorities and guide staff on assigned work, balancing urgent repairs with scheduled preventive maintenance.
Train and coach maintenance staff on troubleshooting, safe work practices, equipment care, and maintenance procedures.
Guide production staff on approved routine machine checks and equipment care.
Plan, perform, and track preventive maintenance using machine manuals, service history, and production needs.
Maintain basic Excel preventive maintenance reports, including machine identification, service dates, findings, repairs, downtime, and follow-up actions.
Review overdue maintenance and recurring equipment issues and recommend practical improvements to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
Coordinate planned maintenance with production and communicate equipment status, repair progress, and unresolved issues to management.
Monitor critical spare parts and maintenance supplies and coordinate outside service providers as directed.
Read machine manuals, drawings, and electrical schematics and use precision measuring tools and appropriate diagnostic equipment.
Follow and reinforce company safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and required personal protective equipment.
Respond to building maintenance needs and keep maintenance tools, work areas, and service records organized.
Additional responsibilities may be required based on operational needs.

Qualifications:

Proven hands-on industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience, including technical troubleshooting and repair.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems used in manufacturing equipment.
Ability to guide and train others, explain technical tasks clearly, and follow through on assigned work.
Basic Microsoft Excel skills to enter and update maintenance records, sort and filter information, and prepare simple preventive maintenance summaries.
Ability to read technical documentation and use precision measuring tools.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and prioritize competing maintenance needs.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Personal hand tools are required.
Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs., with reasonable accommodation as applicable.

Preferred Skills:

Experience troubleshooting and maintaining ACME Gridley screw machines.
Previous maintenance lead, team lead, or staff training experience.
Technical or trade school training in industrial maintenance, machine repair, or a related field.
Fabrication, welding, manual milling, or manual lathe experience.
Experience with computerized maintenance management systems, maintenance work orders, or root cause analysis.

Available Schedule:

1st Shift: Monday – Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Expected Hours: 40 hours per week
3-day weekends
Occasional schedule flexibility may be required based on production or maintenance needs.

Additional Information:

Pay range: $28.00 – $35.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Production Scheduler

CQ + MFG Group is seeking an organized, detail-oriented Production Scheduler to support and coordinate daily manufacturing operations. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate production schedules, tracking job progress, coordinating materials and communicating scheduling updates across departments and facilities.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, dependable team player with strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Strong Microsoft Excel skills, experience with ERP systems are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and update daily and weekly production schedules based on priorities established by production leadership.
Coordinate scheduling activities across multiple manufacturing facilities to support efficient workflow and on-time delivery.
Monitor production progress, track job status, and communicate scheduling changes or potential delays to appropriate personnel.
Work closely with production supervisors, purchasing, quality, and other departments to coordinate production requirements and priorities.
Enter, update, and maintain shop orders, sales orders, purchase orders, and related information within the company's ERP system.
Prepare and maintain production reports, scheduling spreadsheets, Gantt charts, and other tracking documents using Microsoft Excel.
Coordinate assembly schedules, component orders, and production documentation as needed.
Maintain accurate production boards, job packets, scheduling records, and related documentation.
Generate and distribute production status reports, past-due order reports, and other operational updates.
Identify scheduling conflicts, missing information, or potential production delays and communicate concerns to production leadership.
Follow up with appropriate departments to ensure scheduling information is current and production requirements are communicated.
Assist with ongoing improvements to scheduling processes, reporting accuracy, and workflow coordination.

Required Qualifications

Previous experience in production scheduling, manufacturing coordination, administrative operations, or a related manufacturing support role.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, sorting, filtering, spreadsheet management, and reporting.
Experience working with ERP systems or manufacturing management software.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, documentation, and reporting.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with production teams, supervisors, and management.
Strong follow-through, problem-solving skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently while following established production priorities and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
Familiarity with production scheduling, work orders, and manufacturing workflows.
Understanding of inventory management, material requirements, and purchasing processes.
Experience with Excel PivotTables, lookup functions, and production tracking tools.
Experience coordinating activities across multiple departments or facilities.

Maintenance Technician

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team at our facility in Machesney Park, IL. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining manufacturing equipment and supporting facility maintenance needs. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on manufacturing experience, and the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues independently.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, repair, installation, and adjustment of manufacturing equipment, including Acme screw machines.
Troubleshoot and resolve screw machine process conditions to help prevent non-conforming product and minimize downtime.
Perform routine preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
Respond to machine and building repair requests in a timely manner.
Work with and cross-train alongside maintenance and production personnel to expand technical knowledge of screw machine equipment and processes.
Diagnose and resolve maintenance and manufacturing issues through both management direction and independent problem-solving.
Read and use precision measuring tools as required.
Perform basic mechanical, fabrication, welding, manual milling, and manual lathe work as needed.
Maintain personal tools required to perform job responsibilities.
Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years of experience repairing and maintaining manufacturing machinery.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift and lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule when necessary, including occasional nights and weekends.
Must have reliable transportation.

Acme Screw Machine Operator - Experienced & Trainee

We are seeking both experienced and trainee acme screw machine operators for 1st & 2nd shift positions at our facility in Machesney Park, IL. As part of our growing team, this role presents an excellent opportunity to develop skills alongside experienced machinists and advance within the company through dedication and initiative.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Operate Acme Gridley screw machines, loading steel bars and run parts to blueprint specifications.
Perform setup, operation, and troubleshooting of Acme Gridley screw machines to ensure production standards are met.
Maintain safety and quality standards while working independently under low supervision.
Additional responsibilities may be required based on operational needs.

Qualifications:

Prior experience with conventional Acme machines is preferred but not required - just a willingness to learn!

Familiarity with standard measuring equipment and blueprint reading.
Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
Must be able to stand for the duration of shift and repeatedly lift up to 30 lbs. daily.
Must be able to pass a background check, a physical, and a drug screen.
Must have reliable transportation.

Available Schedules:

1st Shift: Monday - Thursday, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM
2nd Shift: Monday - Thursday, 4:30 PM - 2:30 AM

Overtime may be available as needed
